Last Mile Health saves lives in the world's most remote communities. It partners with governments to recruit, train, equip and integrate professional community health workers into national health systems. It operates programs in Ethiopia, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Malawi.
The Project Coordinator (Near Vision Scale-Up) will help translate Liberia's national policy and curriculum on community eye health into consistent service delivery across nine counties, building on the Margibi County pilot and the National Community Health Policy (2023-2033). Working with the Ministry of Health, the Coordinator will lead the scale-up of reading glasses distribution through the National Community Health Assistant (NCHA) Program. The role is contingent on receipt of the award. It is a 24-month, full-time, on-site position in Monrovia, open only to Liberian nationals currently located in Liberia.
Key responsibilities:
- Field implementation and continuous technical support: support personnel at national, county, district and community levels; implement quality assurance across screening and distribution; coordinate institution-based near-vision screening in Montserrado County, including dispensing, referrals and follow-up; coordinate deployment and equitable distribution of near-vision glasses.
- Training, supportive supervision, monitoring and evaluation: support refresher training for Community Health Assistants; plan quarterly integrated supervision visits to implementation counties; work with the MERL Specialist on data entry and management; support decision-support tools, implementation learning, costing and knowledge management.
- Advocacy, demand generation and stakeholder coordination: plan advocacy at Ministry of Health, county, district and community levels; build partnerships with the MoH, County Health Teams and implementing partners; participate in technical working groups.
- Participate in LMH Liberia internal technical working groups and support other emerging program needs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in public health, nursing, community health or health services management. An optometry background is an advantage.
- Relevant professional experience in the work areas above.
- Demonstrated experience in national or sub-national health systems (community health worker programs a plus) and in primary health care interventions.
- Familiarity with the Community Health Information System and DHIS2.
- Ability to navigate complex stakeholder dynamics, and strong partner engagement and project management skills.
- Strong knowledge management skills, including MS Office and Google Suite.
An advantage: digital health program design or implementation, adult-learner training facilitation, knowledge of AI for health service delivery, and advocacy experience with government stakeholders.
Compensation: Band LBR-2, annual gross of $13,404 to $22,340 USD depending on experience. Benefits include health insurance, retirement match, paid time off, parental leave, professional development and mental healthcare support.
