Organizational profile
The Land Portal Foundation is a non-profit organization based in the Netherlands dedicated to supporting the efforts of the rural poor to gain equitable access to land by addressing the fragmentation of information resources on land. Our mission is to nurture a growing information ecosystem on land governance to inform and improve decision-making, policy and practice at all levels. Our vision is a world with improved land governance that supports people with insecure land rights, protects those vulnerable to landlessness, and ensures open access to information for all.
We believe access to information is crucial to achieve good land governance and to secure land rights for vulnerable people. In a well-functioning and inclusive information ecosystem, both information and the diversity of perspectives become more visible and accessible to a much larger audience. Ultimately, this significantly increases the chances that the information reaches target audiences in a way that contributes to securing people’s land rights. The Land Portal website brings together content from over 1,000 partner organizations from all over the world.
The Land Portal Foundation is entering an exciting period of organizational renewal, informed by an external evaluation, and a strategic and sustainability reset conducted between 2025-2026.
