The United Nations University (UNU) is a global think tank and postgraduate teaching organization within the UN System. UNU-WIDER, based in Helsinki, is a leading international development economics think tank providing economic analysis and policy advice to promote sustainable and equitable development. UNU-WIDER has a long-standing presence in Mozambique through embedded support to government institutions, including the Inclusive Growth in Mozambique (IGM) programme and the Strengthening Capacity to Access Climate Finance (FORCA) project. The position is based full-time at the Ministry of Planning and Development (MPD) in Maputo, supporting the National Directorate for Climate Finance (DNFC).
Under the supervision of the Partnerships and Programme Officer and in coordination with the Project Coordinator, the incumbent provides operational support across communication, monitoring and evaluation, and knowledge management. Responsibilities include: supporting the DNFC Communications Strategy and implementing communication, visibility, and knowledge mobilization activities; drafting, editing and formatting communication and knowledge products (policy briefs, reports, newsletters, presentations); providing training and mentorship to DNFC staff and champions; monitoring the reach and effectiveness of communication activities; tracking project indicators; assisting with narrative reports and donor materials; and maintaining organized repositories of project outputs.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in communications, international development, economics, social sciences, or related field. At least four (4) years of relevant experience in communications, monitoring and evaluation, or project support; experience drafting reports and communication materials, supporting monitoring/reporting processes, and managing documentation or knowledge systems. Desired: experience in climate finance, public policy or development programmes, and working with government institutions in the Global South. Fluency in English and Portuguese (written and spoken) is required.
Remuneration: PSA contract with an annual gross salary of USD 40,188, plus 30 days annual leave and health insurance. Initial contract duration is 1 year with possibility of renewal. Starting date: as soon as possible.
