Save the Children International (SCI) has been active in Egypt since 1982, implementing development and humanitarian programs in Greater Cairo, Upper and Lower Egypt, with field offices in Alexandria, Assiut and Minya. The MEAL Manager is a key position within the Country Office, reporting to the Program Development and Quality Director. S/he oversees the design and implementation of a quality, comprehensive and integrated MEAL system meeting SCI standards; MEAL staff management, mentorship, and development; strategic and annual planning, internal reporting, and program/project development. The role ensures a robust MEAL system supports collection and use of participatory, gender-sensitive evidence, with analysis and learning informing decision-making at project and country levels. The MEAL Manager directly supervises 5 MEAL Officers and 1 Accountability/Learning Specialist, within a CO MEAL team of 10-15 staff across Cairo and Field Offices, and is a member of the Program Development and Quality department and Extended Senior Management Team.
Key accountabilities include leading development of a CO-wide MEAL system aligned with SCI's Quality Framework, maintaining PRIME data systems, supporting monitoring frameworks and Quality Benchmarks, leading evidence collection and analysis disaggregated for gender and marginalised groups, ensuring accountability mechanisms with communities, leading MEAL emergency preparedness per Core Humanitarian Standards, reviewing MEAL structure and capacity, supporting strategic planning including the Country Strategic Plan, ensuring accurate internal and donor reporting, contributing to proposal development and MEAL budgeting, and supporting advocacy with evidence-based data. Fixed term contract till December 2027. Child Safeguarding Level 3 role, requiring frequent or intensive contact with children.
