The Digital Impact Alliance (DIAL) is a global non-profit reimagining how data and digital technology can fuel bold, inclusive solutions to society's toughest challenges — from advancing equality to driving sustainable economic growth and addressing climate change. Founded in 2014 and headquartered in the United States, DIAL works at the intersection of research, policy, and practice, with a sharpened focus on fostering healthy data ecosystems and digital public infrastructure across Africa.
DIAL has been leading a 2-year change management strategy (2024-2026), establishing a new fiscal sponsorship relationship and a strategic vision for impact in Africa. DIAL now seeks a consultant (or consortia) to ground-truth this understanding and lead DIAL in selecting the ideal structural configuration to become optimally 'Africa-rooted'.
Scope of Work:
- Strategic assessment — review DIAL's strategy, implementation, communication and fundraising plans; interview key stakeholders (Board of Advisors, Senior Management Team, select donors); review comparable organizations; assess Africa-rooted localization objectives; and define success criteria.
- Organizational model assessment — assess potential institutional models (continuing fiscal sponsorship with CFG plus an African subsidiary, independent non-profit plus African subsidiary, African-headquartered nonprofit, for-profit and non-profit arm, dual-entity partnership, federated/networked regional model, and alternatives). For each model, evaluate donor funding requirements, registration considerations, financial implications, compliance with local laws, funding considerations, and staffing/management needs.
Deliverables include an inception report, an institutional design framework, a decision-making rubric, a preliminary options report and decision-making session, and a final options report. Work is expected to start around August 10, 2026 and be completed by October 15, 2026. The maximum allocated budget is USD $40,000.
DIAL welcomes submissions from individual firms or consortia bringing expertise in nonprofit strategy, organizational design, governance, international legal structures, African nonprofit registration, and change management. Employment type: Contractor (Remote, United States).
