About the company: Dunevax Biotech provides high-quality, locally adapted livestock vaccines and vaccine solutions to support farmers as well as Veterinarians across the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region. We currently have offices in Kameeldrift, Pretoria, RSA and Windhoek, Namibia.
We are expanding the Board, seeking a high-calibre individual with a strong scientific background, strategic vision and international standing in veterinary vaccinology and animal health. This is a strategic leadership role suited to an individual with a strong footprint regionally and internationally.
Role Overview
The Executive Board Member will provide strategic leadership and oversight in vaccine development, regulatory positioning, international partnerships and market expansion, particularly within the SADC region. The role requires a visible ambassador for the company, capable of engaging with governments, regulators, multilateral agencies, research institutions and industry stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to strategic direction in vaccine R&D, manufacturing and commercialisation
- Advise on clinical and field trial strategy, regulatory pathways and quality standards
- Support positioning of products in SADC and international markets
- Strengthen partnerships with governments, academia, industry and multilateral organisations
- Represent the company in high-level meetings, technical forums and conferences
- Deliver presentations at national and international level
- Support fundraising, grant applications and institutional collaborations
- Provide independent governance oversight as a full Board Member
Required Profile
- Advanced qualification in veterinary science, immunology, microbiology or related discipline (PhD preferred)
- Strong background in veterinary vaccinology and/or biological product development
- Demonstrated research and publication record
- International exposure, ideally including work in emerging or developing markets (Africa experience advantageous but not mandatory)
- Established professional network across industry, academia, regulatory bodies and relevant international or regional organisations
- Strong personality, open communicator and effective networker
- Comfortable operating at executive and policy level
- Willingness to travel extensively within SADC and abroad
- Excellent presentation and public-speaking skills
- Eligible to work in South Africa (or ability to obtain required work authorisation)
Desirable Experience
- Experience in GMP manufacturing environments
- Engagement with international organisations, development partners, industry bodies or regulatory networks
- Experience with animal trials, regulatory processes and quality systems
- Track record in business development and strategic partnerships
- Board or senior executive management experience
