Africa50 is a specialist infrastructure investor that contributes to Africa's growth by developing and investing in bankable projects, catalysing public sector capital, and mobilizing private sector funding.
Africa50 has raised over US$890 million so far from 33 African governments, the African Development Bank, two African Central Banks and the Public Investment Corporation (PIC) and intends to reach a target capitalization of US$3 billion. Africa50 has an independent investment process and seeks to generate commercial risk-adjusted returns for its investments across key infrastructure sectors: energy (including power generation and related parts of the value chain), midstream gas, transportation, ICT, health infrastructure, education and fintech.
Purpose of the Role
As a Portfolio Performance Intern, you will support the Portfolio team in collecting and organizing investment data, preparing portfolio monitoring and reporting materials, and conducting research on selected industries and sectors. The internship provides practical exposure to infrastructure investment portfolio management in Africa.
The position sits within the Finance department and reports to the Portfolio Performance Manager.
Principal Responsibilities
* Assist in collecting, consolidating, validating and maintaining financial, operational and investment data for portfolio monitoring, valuation and reporting.
* Support the update of portfolio databases, key performance indicator trackers, dashboards and reporting templates.
* Research industry, market and macroeconomic developments affecting Africa50's portfolio.
* Assist in preparing portfolio reports and presentations materials for Management, the Investment Committee and the Board.
* Follow up with Investment, Finance and other teams on information requests and data gaps.
* Contribute to ad hoc portfolio analysis, process improvements and other Finance assignments.
Candidate Profile
Required Background
* Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in finance, economics, accounting, business administration, engineering or a related discipline.
* Strong academic record and demonstrated interest in investments, corporate finance or infrastructure.
* Previous internship, project work or coursework in private equity, investment banking, transaction advisory, asset management, consulting or financial analysis would be an advantage.

* Financial modelling skills or experience with data visualization and business intelligence tools would be an advantage.
* Strong research, written communication and presentation skills.
* Good written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
* Culturally sensitive and able to work effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
