ALIMA PRESENTATION

THE ALIMA SPIRIT: ALIMA's mission is to save lives and provide care to the most vulnerable populations, without any discrimination based on identity, religion, or politics, through actions grounded in proximity, innovation, and partnerships between organizations and individuals. We act with humanity, impartiality, and in accordance with universal medical ethics. To reach patients, we are committed to intervening in a neutral and independent manner.

The values and principles guiding our actions, as outlined in our Charter:
1. The patient first
2. Revolutionizing humanitarian medicine
3. Responsibility and freedom
4. Improving the quality of our actions
5. Trust
6. Collective intelligence
7. Environmental responsibility

ALIMA promotes and defends fundamental human rights principles. ALIMA has a zero-tolerance policy towards those guilty of gender-based and sexual violence, as well as towards inaction in the face of alleged or proven acts of violence. The protection of those benefiting from and impacted by our work is our top priority in everything we do. Everyone collaborating with ALIMA commits to:
• respect the charter, the code of conduct, institutional policies including the policy for protection against abuse of power and gender-based and sexual violence, the policy for the prevention of corruption and fraud;
• report any violation of policies, framework documents and procedures to a supervisor, a designated contact person, or to the address provided for this purpose

HEAL - INNOVATE - TOGETHER:
Since its creation in 2009, ALIMA has treated more than 10 million patients and now operates in 12 African countries. In 2021, we developed more than 60 humanitarian medical response projects to address the needs of populations affected by conflict, epidemics, and extreme poverty. All of these projects are carried out in support of national health authorities through nearly 357 health facilities (including 45 hospitals and 312 health centers). We work in partnership, particularly with local NGOs, whenever possible to ensure that our patients benefit from expertise wherever it is available, whether in their own country or elsewhere in the world. Furthermore, to improve the humanitarian response, we conduct operational and clinical research projects, notably to combat malnutrition and viral hemorrhagic fevers.

THE ALIMA TEAM: More than 2,000 people currently work for ALIMA. The field teams, working closest to patients, receive support from the coordination teams, generally based in the capital cities of the countries where they operate. These teams are supported by the four desk teams and the emergency and openings team based at the operational headquarters in Dakar, Senegal. The teams in Paris and New York actively work on fundraising and representing ALIMA. The rest of the ALIMA network includes individuals and partner teams working for other organizations such as the medical NGOs BEFEN, ALERTE Santé, SOS Médecins/KEOOGO, and AMCP; the research organizations PACCI and INSERM; the Universities of Bordeaux and Copenhagen; the NGO Solidarités International; and many others.

OUR COUNTRIES OF OPERATION: Mali, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Nigeria, Niger, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Guinea, Sudan, Mauritania, Ethiopia, Ukraine

OUR PROJECT THEMES: Malnutrition, Maternal Health, Primary Health, Pediatrics, Malaria, Epidemics (Ebola, Cholera, Measles, Dengue), Hospitalization, Emergencies, Gender-Based Violence, Cross-cutting Protection, Mental Health.

JOB TYPE

MISSION CONTEXT: ALIMA programs in Cameroon

Present and active in Cameroon since 2016, ALIMA provides technical, operational and material support to the Ministry of Health through support to health structures in responding to acute health and nutritional emergencies, as well as epidemics.

Since its establishment, the organization has progressively strengthened its interventions in response to the multiple crises that have destabilized the country, notably the Lake Chad Basin crisis and the Anglophone crisis. It currently operates in two regions, the Far North and the Northwest, with a national coordination office based in Yaoundé.

Starting in Mokolo, where ALIMA conducted its first intervention in Cameroon, the response gradually expanded to several health districts to implement emergency programs for populations affected by conflict. Health, nutrition, and epidemic response are ALIMA's main areas of expertise in the country, which has resulted in the implementation of some thirty projects in the districts of Makary and Mokolo, in the Far North region.

Since August 2022, ALIMA has also been working in the Bamenda district of the Northwest region, through a project providing medical and nutritional care to vulnerable populations affected by the Anglophone crisis. The organization implements its activities in partnership with the Cameroonian NGO DEMTOU Humanitaire.
Thus, ALIMA provides targeted medical and nutritional support tailored to the specific needs of crisis-affected populations, guaranteeing them free and quality access to healthcare. To this end, it provides technical, material, and human resource support to health facilities (health centers, community health centers, and district hospitals) for the benefit of the most vulnerable populations. ALIMA also intervenes in emergency situations, including natural disasters and epidemics.

In 2026, ALIMA is implementing eight projects in Cameroon, including six medical-nutritional projects, one epidemic response project (vaccination and research) and one project aimed at strengthening vulnerable women's access to integrated sexual, reproductive and mental health services.

Beyond providing free, high-quality care to patients and strengthening the capacities of health workers and supported structures, ALIMA has developed a genuine community presence in its intervention areas as well as a detailed knowledge of local specificities and security challenges, in contexts that are often very volatile.
