Role Informaon:
Job Title: Monitoring, Evaluaon, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Officer
Locaon: Implementaon office in Abyei Town, Abyei Administrave Area (AAA)
Reporng to: Line Management by Programme Peacebuilding Manager, and administravely, to the Project Peacebuilding Manager in Juba
Supervising: No supervisory role – except for interns occasionally
Salary: $1900 monthly gross of tax. 25 days of annual leave plus all public and religious holidays as agreed by the Labour Office
Status: The applicant needs to have authorisaon to work in the Abyei Administrave Area.
Contribute to developing and implemenng monitoring and evaluaon systems in the assigned Hub:
• Implement monitoring and evaluaon systems for the programme at the Abyei Town office
• Collect and analyse data on transhumance flows and conflict dynamics within the area of coverage
• Conduct quantave and qualitave data analysis to assess the effecveness of our peacebuilding iniaves and the impact of our acvies
• Monitor social cohesion among communies
• Contribute to the idenficaon and protecon of designated vulnerable groups, including women and girls in coverage area
• Design the implementaon plan to monitor and evaluate programme delivery at the Hub level
• Assist with IT support and training at the Hub level.
Responsible for programme monitoring and evaluaon at the level of the Hub
• Ensure the programme adapts and evolves to meet the needs idenfied, remaining accountable to communies affected by conflict
• Evaluate the impact of climate change on conflict in the designated region
• Monitoring against the Theory of Change and ensuring that the programme is achieving the intended impact. If not, idenfying what needs to change to achieve the intended impact
• Monitoring against performance indicators to check that the project is delivering against the indicators. Idenfy issues and agree acon plans to address them
• Capture learning and idenfying what works, what isn’t working, what needs to be done differently to atain intended outcomes and impact.
Responsible for Producing Timely Internal and External Reports
• Contribute to producing monthly and bi-annual reports for all acvies at the level of the Hub and Country
• Generate clear, professional and visually atracve reports that explain the impact of our work and the recommendaons from our dialogues
• Work with the Communicaons team producing informal news items, telling the story of the impact of our work and publicising the recommendaons that come from dialogues that we facilitate
Person Specificaon:
Essenal:
• At least 3 years’ peacebuilding experience in complex environments, preferably in the region and/or country
• Proven experience of evaluang the impact of peacebuilding work
• Professional level English, able to produce high-standard reports for a range of audiences. Arabic language skills would be beneficial.
• Willing to be based at the designated office and provide MEAL support, and other acvity hubs either in Sudan or South Sudan as may be required
• Demonstrable experience in monitoring, evaluaon and learning of peace processes
• Degree in social sciences, stascs, or related field
• Excellent IT skills, including MS Office, Kobo Collect and tools to analyse large datasets
• Personal efficiency, resourcefulness, organisaonal ability and the ability to be flexible and maintain good humour in challenging circumstances
• Strong communicaon and interpersonal skills
• Adaptability to challenging field condions
• Familiarity with conflict-sensive approaches
• Awareness of cultural diversity and polical sensivies and ability to address such issues with tact, diplomacy and sensivity

• The role is open to Sudanese or South Sudanese naonals only who must be prepared to be based in Abyei Town, Abyei Administrave Area. This is a remote and challenging environment and there is no relocaon allowance - the applicant will be expected to source their own accommodaon. It is strongly advised that potenal candidates consider all aspects of relocang to the Abyei Administrave Area in advance of applying for this role.

• Excellent communicaon skills in English and Arabic for reporng and stakeholder engagement
• Ability to work in complex, mul-cultural environments
• Experience of working in the region.
• Video eding experience.
• Praccal experience and/or training in NGO Security Management.
