About the Graduate Student Intern role
We seek leaders who are passionate about making a difference, possess exceptional analytical skills, and thrive in an entrepreneurial, developing country setting. The ideal graduate intern would be interested in joining IDinsight in a full-time role following their graduation and would take advantage of the graduate internship to identify a potential long-term role in the organization. Successful graduate interns are highly likely to be considered for roles at IDinsight upon graduation.
To maximize learning for the graduate intern and contribution to IDinsight, the graduate internship will be tailored to the specific interests and skills of the intern rather than committed to certain projects at this time. The graduate internship will likely involve a semi-autonomous project within a larger client engagement, or supporting internal regional strategic priorities, which the intern will be responsible for leading with minimal to moderate support from supervisors. Potential projects will be discussed during the interview process. The graduate intern will receive significant support and mentorship from IDinsight leadership.
The graduate intern will be based in IDinsight's Manila office for a period of 8-12 weeks, or will work remotely with our teammates in Jakarta or Hanoi, depending on their profile and project assignments. The exact project assigned to the graduate intern will be the result of conversations between the intern and his/her IDinsight supervisor to ensure that it is carefully designed to meet the interests and skills of the intern and the needs of the organization. Examples of the types of projects that former graduate interns have carried on include (but are certainly not limited to) the following:
* Developing IDinsight's evaluation plan for an education impact evaluation.
* Creating data collection tools for a water, sanitation, and health survey.
* Running fieldwork operations for a process evaluation for a health program.
* Analyzing data for the process evaluation of a rural development program.
* Creating a set of monitoring indicators for a large education governmental program.
* Presenting findings from an impact evaluation to IDinsight government clients at the highest level of government.
* Conducting stakeholder mapping in new sectors or countries and initiating partnership development conversations with priority stakeholders.
* Helping structure and set-up a partnership between IDinsight and another organization.
* Contributing to one of IDinsight's learning partnerships (for instance: scoping of a new workstream, supporting existing workstream, etc.)
Qualifications
* Currently pursuing a graduate degree (Master's or equivalent). We strongly encourage applications from candidates who have secured full funding for their studies, whether through institutional scholarships, fellowships, or external grants
* 3-5 years of relevant work experience in international development, research and evaluation, data analytics, consulting, or program management
* Strong writing and analytical skills, with exposure to (either via professional work experience or academic coursework) the basics of econometrics, data and research analysis tools, and quantitative and qualitative research processes or an ability to quickly understand these topics
* Highly organized, attentive to deadlines, and able to manage a high volume of work with efficiency
* Excellent interpersonal skills, can effectively engage with stakeholders ranging from school children to senior government officials to internal colleagues, and places a high value on being a teamplayer
* Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter and fast learner; resourceful and resilient in the face of challenges
