The District Project Officer works with the District Health Office (DHO) to oversee implementation, monitoring and reporting of the Targeted Supplementary Feeding Program (TSFP) for children aged 6-23 months. The role covers all participating health facilities and their catchments in the district. It supports CRS's work serving the poor and vulnerable and strengthens government supplementary feeding structures, including Integrated Management and Prevention of Wasting (IMPOW) structures.
Key responsibilities:
- Support district coordination and implementation of assigned project activities in line with CRS program quality standards and donor requirements.
- Manage district data: ensure integrity, security and compliance, maintain project dashboards and databases (Power BI, Tableau, DHIS2), and facilitate digital data collection systems.
- Monitor and report on district challenges and gaps, and coordinate project evaluation activities with partners.
- Assess government staff capacity and technical assistance needs, and monitor capacity-building activities.
- Liaise with stakeholders to mobilize local actors and promote project activities, impact and sustainability.
- Plan and facilitate TSFP distribution and outreach, and prepare bi-weekly and monthly TSFP reports.
- Ensure children discharged from NRU are transferred to TSFP, and that TSFP tools are available at health facilities.
- Work with the District Nutritionist on quality facility reports and on screening children for referral.
- Facilitate training and health education sessions, and follow up on absentees and defaulters.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Public Health, Nutrition or a related field.
- At least 6 months of experience in TSFP.
- Experience in participatory action planning and community engagement, SFP for children 6-59 months, IMPOW, and management of MAM.
- Knowledge of nutrition digital platforms; proficiency in MS Office; data collection and management skills.
- Languages: English, Chichewa and Tumbuka.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%.
Full-time, on-site in Malawi. No supervisory responsibilities. CRS prioritizes citizens and permanent residents of the countries where it has offices.
