BirdLife International Tokyo, the Japanese presence of the world's largest nature conservation partnership, seeks an experienced conservation professional to lead and develop the Tokyo office's existing conservation projects. Working closely with the Deputy Director, the successful candidate will expand partnerships and projects with Japanese corporations and institutions, while providing leadership and development opportunities for line-managed staff through a diverse portfolio of conservation initiatives. Responsibilities include formulating and implementing strategies for environmental conservation programmes in Japan and overseas; expanding the network of companies committed to CSR and 'Nature Positive' initiatives; securing grants from organisations such as the Keidanren Nature Conservation Fund; maintaining relationships with existing supporters while securing new ones; planning and implementing environmental conservation activities in collaboration with staff; developing subordinates; and collaborating with global BirdLife colleagues on conservation programmes. The role requires regular local and international travel. Requirements: ability to communicate in English (frequent correspondence with UK headquarters and overseas offices), TOEIC score of 800 or above, a university or postgraduate degree or equivalent experience, computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and 10+ years of relevant work experience. Full-time, 35 hours/week, open-ended contract renewed annually following a 6-month probation. Salary JPY 5.5-6.5 million per annum depending on experience.
