World Resources Institute (WRI) Indonesia is seeking a part-time consultant Community Development Assistant for Agroforestry for the Food, Land, and Water Program, based in Aceh Tengah or Bener Meriah, Aceh. Under the Blended Finance Model for the Social Forestry Enterprises Project, WRI Indonesia strengthens Social Forestry Business Groups (KUPS) and their cooperatives through institutional strengthening, capacity-building, agroforestry management, sustainable ecotourism, business incubation and market partnerships, improving their readiness to access blended finance. Target enterprises include Arabica coffee, honey, palm sugar, organic fertilizer, processed food, silvopasture and silvofisheries.
The Assistant supports the field team in delivering community development and sustainable livelihood interventions for targeted KUPS, reporting to the Sumatra Research and Program Development Lead, with regular travel to target villages within the two districts.
Responsibilities:
- Technical works and community facilitation support (70%): support agroforestry and ecotourism activities; document partnership and market engagement opportunities; support technical preparation for capacity-building of commodity-based cooperatives (13 KUPS enterprises); coordinate field logistics with the administration and procurement team; assist baseline assessments, tiering, monitoring visits and field data collection; maintain project documentation and field evidence.
- Stakeholder communication (30%): support communication with local governments, CSOs, private sector actors and other stakeholders; maintain relationships to support program alignment.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in forestry, agriculture, sociology, agribusiness, rural development, environmental studies, economics or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in community facilitation, livelihood development, ecotourism, social forestry, stakeholder engagement or rural enterprise development.
- Preferably based in or originating from Aceh Tengah or Bener Meriah.
- Understanding of community development approaches and rural economic systems in the Gayo highlands.
- Experience with KUPS, village enterprises, cooperatives or government institutions; experience facilitating trainings and participatory planning.
- Basic understanding of business development, market linkage and financing readiness.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; willingness to travel frequently; legally able to work in Indonesia.
Contract: 15 October 2026 – 28 February 2027; daily-rate consultant, maximum 90 working days. Locally engaged position; Indonesian nationals are encouraged to apply.
