RECOFTC Thailand is seeking a Project Coordinator for Governance, based in Nan Province and working in the Phu Kha forest landscape with support from the Wyss Academy for Nature. The role is a 14-month contract with the possibility of extension, contingent on funding availability and satisfactory performance. RECOFTC is an international nonprofit working towards resilient communities with respected rights in sustainably and equitably managed forest landscapes.
The Project Coordinator reports to the Project Manager and supervises field project team members. They lead the planning, management and delivery of project outputs under the approved work plan, contributing to three outcomes: (1) stronger multi-stakeholder platforms and collaboration; (2) stronger capacity of government agencies, local authorities, youth and communities, including decentralization of forest governance to the Sub-district Administrative Organization (SAO); and (3) local authorities and landscape stakeholders applying digital tools and data, supported by a landscape governance portal, fire management technologies and a feasibility assessment for a carbon credit initiative.
Key responsibilities:
- Project planning and implementation: prepare the work plan, budget and MEL mechanism; coordinate project activities and events; facilitate multi-stakeholder discussions and capacity-building with communities, with attention to gender equality and social inclusion.
- Monitoring, evaluation and learning: track progress and expenditure against the approved budget; prepare narrative and financial reports; contribute to RECOFTC's internal MEL process.
- Partnership and communication: liaise with international organizations, the private sector, NGOs and government agencies; represent RECOFTC at meetings and events; engage in advocacy; manage sub-grant agreements and consultants; work with the communications team to document and disseminate results.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in natural resource management, governance or a related field, including the social sciences.
- At least five years of experience managing development projects, preferably in natural resource management, community engagement or forest governance.
- Experience with project management methodologies and tools; strong facilitation, teamwork, networking, report writing and presentation skills; English proficiency and computer literacy.
- Willingness to travel frequently within the country and region.
- Must be a Thai national.
- Desirable: able to start as soon as possible and be stationed full-time in Nan province; knowledge of database and online applications for project management and M&E.
