RECOFTC Thailand is seeking a Project Coordinator for Biodiversity, based in Nan Province and working in the Phu Kha forest landscape with support from the Wyss Academy for Nature. The role is a 14-month contract with the possibility of extension, contingent on funding availability and satisfactory performance.
The Project Coordinator will report to the Project Manager, work closely with the Wyss Academy for Nature Biodiversity Dimension Lead, supervise field project team members, and lead the planning, management and delivery of project outputs under the approved work plan. Expected outcomes: (1) forest landscape management and land use planning responsive to biodiversity direction and outcomes; (2) strengthened community-led forest management, watershed restoration and fire management across the Phu Kha landscape; (3) sustainable financing mechanisms established to support conservation actions.
Key responsibilities:
- Project planning and implementation: prepare the work plan, budget and MEL mechanism; develop implementation and sustainability plans; prepare budget requests and terms of reference; coordinate and facilitate multi-stakeholder meetings and capacity-building with communities, with attention to gender equality and social inclusion.
- Monitoring, evaluation and learning: track progress and expenditure against plans, prepare narrative and financial reports, and provide inputs to RECOFTC's internal MEL process.
- Partnership and communication: liaise with international organizations, the private sector, NGOs and government agencies; represent RECOFTC at meetings and events; engage in advocacy; manage sub-grant agreements and consultants; work with the communications team to document and disseminate results.
Essential qualifications:
- Master's degree in natural resource management, environmental studies, forestry science or a related field
- At least five years of experience managing development projects, preferably in natural resources management, community engagement or biodiversity conservation
- Experience with project management methodologies and tools
- Strong field experience in forestry and biodiversity inventory, including citizen science tools
- English proficiency, computer literacy, good report writing and presentation skills
- Strong teamwork and networking skills; willingness to travel frequently within the country and region
- Must be a Thai national
Desirable: ability to start immediately and be stationed full-time in Nan; knowledge of databases and online project management/M&E tools; GIS and remote sensing skills; results-oriented and able to manage competing priorities.
