CIFF is seeking a Senior Manager, Maternal, Child Health and Nutrition (MCH+N) - Africa, on a one-year fixed-term contract based in Nairobi, Kenya. The role contributes to evidence-based strategies, plans and investments that help CIFF's MCH+N work achieve transformational and lasting change, in alignment with CIFF's Africa Strategy, Resilient Communities Framework and MCH+N Missions.
Key responsibilities:
- Strategy and planning: prepare and deliver high-quality analyses of research to inform strategic objectives and operational plans; bring together governments, donor partners and implementing agencies; identify partnership and co-creation opportunities; work with the Director to develop sustainable MCH+N financing mechanisms in Africa.
- Programme development, delivery and performance: build a pipeline of investments aligned with the MCH+N mission; lead the design of investments, select grantees, secure internal approval and oversee implementation; review investment progress and performance and resolve problems with partners; embed monitoring and evaluation; follow due diligence and risk management procedures; work with Finance and Legal on grant agreements and disbursements; act as team lead for the Fluxx grants management system; contribute to board and portfolio reports.
- Sector knowledge and profile-building: stay current on MCH+N and related sectors; contribute to thought leadership and advocacy materials; assess academic research, policies and government initiatives; represent CIFF at conferences and events.
- Stakeholder and partner management: assess potential partners; apply CIFF's CRM approaches; support strategic partnerships; engage government ministries and agencies to support implementation.
Requirements:
- Post-graduate degree or equivalent experience, preferably in medical sciences, nutrition and food systems, public health and epidemiology, or a related field.
- Demonstrated technical depth in maternal, newborn, child health and/or nutrition.
- Experience in strategy development, with strong synthesis and visual storytelling skills.
- Knowledge of the African context, international development and global health.
- Experience in analysis, due diligence, policy, planning and programme delivery, including field experience.
- Experience designing investments and evidence-based programmes in MCH+N, health systems strengthening and health financing.
- Strong grounding in impact measurement, monitoring and evaluation.
- Strong relationship-building, influencing and communication skills in English, and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience working with or influencing government systems and policies.
- Ability to work across cultural and socio-economic contexts, and willingness to travel regularly.
Benefits: 25 days of annual leave, discretionary bonus, training and wellbeing allowances, life and medical insurance, and a hybrid work policy. Starting salary is 13,200,000 KES annually.
