Village Enterprise's mission is to end extreme poverty in rural Africa through entrepreneurship, innovation, and collective action. This full-time role supports the NOURISH RCT in West Pokot County, which integrates nutrition-sensitive interventions into the traditional Ultra-Poor Graduation program. The Business Mentor develops micro-enterprises according to the Village funding cycle, mobilizes qualified groups to participate, and ensures quality program implementation across the sub-county. Responsibilities include training new business owners per the Training Manual, supporting grant disbursement, conducting supplemental training and evaluating enterprise performance, and providing monthly mentoring visits to each business. The role also involves organizing Business Savings Groups of at least 18 participants, training groups on self-directed savings and loans, and attending monthly savings group meetings for the first nine months. Additional duties include assisting field staff with introducing the program to local government agencies, identifying viable businesses, consulting with other mentors on best practices, and submitting monthly reports and quarterly business profiles. Safeguarding responsibilities apply to all staff. The role is field-based in a rural setup, requiring travel by public transport or motorbike and frequent interaction with communities and local leaders. Candidates need a minimum certificate in community development, business management, education, or a related field; experience in teaching, training, mentoring, or community service; at least one year in a comparable role; fluency in the local language, Kiswahili, and English; and residency in West Pokot County, Pokot North Subcounty, Alale Area.
