The Senior Animal Health Officer will provide technical leadership for the STRIDES Activity in Cameroon, a global project strengthening infectious disease detection systems in support of the U.S. Global Health Security response. The role focuses on strengthening animal health and zoonotic disease surveillance through a One Health approach, collaborating with ministries including MINEPIA, MINFOF, and PNLPZER. Responsibilities include supporting event-based, indicator-based, and community-based surveillance for priority pathogens and antimicrobial resistance; providing technical assistance to expand passive surveillance into active surveillance systems; preparing training materials and SOPs; strengthening skills of field disease surveillance personnel; supporting work planning, reporting, and stakeholder engagement; and representing STRIDES in technical meetings and coordination forums. Reports to the STRIDES Cameroon Epidemiology & Surveillance Advisor. Requires a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, a master's degree in public health, epidemiology, or related field, 6+ years of relevant experience in epidemiology and animal health programs, and fluency in French and English. Travel requirement of 25-45%.
