FHI 360 is recruiting an Epidemiology and Surveillance Officer for its STRIDES Activity in Cameroon, a global project supporting the U.S. government's Global Health Security response to strengthen disease detection, surveillance, and reporting systems. The Officer provides technical support for implementing infectious disease surveillance strategies in collaboration with Cameroon's Ministry of Public Health at national and subnational levels, contributing to STRIDES Objective 2 (Surveillance Systems). Duties include supporting event-based, indicator-based, and community-based surveillance for priority pathogens and antimicrobial resistance; strengthening passive-to-active surveillance transitions and early warning systems; developing training materials and standard operating procedures for field disease surveillance personnel; contributing to strategy and tool development for epidemiologic and public health surveillance; drafting technical briefs and reports; and supporting monitoring and evaluation of health security interventions. Candidates need a bachelor's degree in epidemiology, public health, or a related field, plus 4+ years of national-level experience in epidemiology and infectious disease control programs, demonstrated knowledge of surveillance methodology and epidemiologic data analysis, and prior NGO, government, or private-sector experience. Fluency in both French and English is required given the bilingual Cameroonian context. This is a technical, donor-funded public health security role embedded within a global surveillance-strengthening initiative spanning multiple countries.
