The U.S. government's Global Health Security (GHS) program provides life-saving assistance to prevent, detect, and respond to infectious disease threats. As part of the GHS program, the STRengthening Infectious disease DEtection Systems (STRIDES) Activity advances cross-sectoral efforts to identify, manage, and respond to infectious disease threats and instill confidence in a country's disease detection and surveillance structures.

The Rapid Response Advisor oversees implementation of STRIDES emergency preparedness and response activities, directing professional staff and rapid response teams as needs are identified. S/he engages with STRIDES technical staff to ensure emergency preparedness and response activities align with approved workplans, prepares donor deliverable reports highlighting achievements, leads development of best practice documents, monitors budgets, and coordinates with in-country organizations including USG and host government counterparts.

Responsibilities include overseeing emergency activities implementation, networking with internal/external STRIDES personnel, leading creation of emergency/outbreak response workplans, developing strategies for emergency/outbreak preparedness capabilities, and representing STRIDES/FHI 360 to external entities.

Requirements: Master's Degree or International Equivalent in a related field (PM Certification preferred); typically 8+ years of relevant experience designing and evaluating programs; documented leadership implementing GHS-focused projects with emphasis on emergency/outbreak preparedness and response; prior NGO, USG, or private organization experience; excellent oral and written communication in French and English; prior experience implementing USG-funded contracts strongly preferred. Travel: 10-25%.
