Danish Refugee Council, one of the world's leading humanitarian NGOs, is looking for a qualified Protection Officer - Monitoring for operations in Jigjiga/Dire Dawa, Ethiopia. Under the technical supervision of the Protection Manager, the role will implement protection monitoring activities in target locations, including planning and conducting protection monitoring visits, data collection and encoding, referral of individuals at risk, information sharing, and reporting on protection trends and risks. The position will identify and provide direct assistance to people with specific needs and contribute to other protection activities. Duties include developing work plans, ensuring monitoring activities align with international standards, conducting data collection using tools like Kobo and Activity Info, mapping services and referral pathways, supporting case management, engaging communities and stakeholders, and contributing to monthly/quarterly reports. Requires minimum 3 years' experience in humanitarian/development response, research, or refugee/IDP protection with an INGO, UN agency, or relevant authority; strong communication skills in English and local languages; experience with online data collection tools; and a university degree in social sciences, law, social work, international development, or related field. Fluency in English and Amharic required. Contract length is 12 months, national contract, starting 15 October 2026.
