Terre des hommes (Tdh), the leading Swiss child rights organisation with headquarters in Lausanne, seeks a Country Director for Egypt. Position start date: October 15, 2026; duration: 24 months; family posting. Tdh Egypt has worked since 1983 with national and local partners to protect vulnerable children, youth, and their families across Greater Cairo and Upper Egypt, through mental health and psychosocial support, case management, cash assistance, community mobilization, youth empowerment, child protection, access to justice, and health system resilience programming.
Responsibilities: The Country Director ensures proper functioning of national operations and represents the organization, including legally, in Egypt. Directs and supervises all Tdh projects in line with strategic orientations; demonstrates ethical leadership; develops the Country Strategy; guarantees implementation of the annual plan of action (budget, HR, logistics, quality and accountability); implements an operational risk-management system; supervises all Country Office staff; ensures internal and external communications; is accountable to beneficiaries, collaborators, and donors; ensures compliance with security policies and code of conduct; holds ultimate responsibility for security, risk, and access. Core areas: strategy and steering, representation, internal coordination, security and safety, human resources, finance and logistics, business development and reporting.
Profile: Master's degree in a relevant field. Minimum 8 years' senior experience in an INGO, managing a large team/operation/programme, including prior experience as Country Director. Significant international experience in humanitarian/refugee/conflict settings. Fluency in English required; Arabic an asset.
Salary: Expatriate contract under Swiss regulations, CHF 5,000-5,700 gross/month (x13), 25 days annual leave, local accommodation and transportation, health/accident/medical repatriation insurance, return flight.
