The Office of the Rector supports the Rector as chief academic and administrative officer of UNU, assisting executive management, coordination, governance and policy development. Under the guidance of the Rector and Chief of Staff, the Administrative Officer oversees correspondence addressed to the Rector, ensures coherence in the Rector's schedule, and provides executive support. Responsibilities include managing official correspondence and quality control of letters; coordinating the Rector's daily calendar, travel, visas, accommodations and expense reports; supporting external relations with ambassadors, donors, parliamentarians and senior officials, including serving as UNU Protocol Focal Point for high-level visits; and supporting HR matters for the Office of the Rector including recruitment and staff separation/onboarding. Requires a Master's degree in public administration, management, social sciences or related field (or Bachelor's plus two additional years of qualifying experience), minimum two years of progressively responsible experience at the international level managing complex administrative processes, experience with UN correspondence protocols, and proficiency with MS Office and web-based management systems. Fluency in English and Japanese is required. This is a full-time, fixed-term appointment for one year with possibility of renewal.
