Location: Democratic Republic of the Congo
We are seeking a qualified accountant with relevant post-qualification experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial reporting, financial accounting, and finance systems. Experience with institutional donors, capacity building, and working within an international organisation will be a distinct advantage. The Regional Accountant ensures high-quality, customer-focused accounting support for Tearfund's operations across the East and Central Africa region. Working closely with Tearfund's Global Finance team, the role plays a key part in maintaining financial integrity and operational efficiency. Candidates should have relevant post-qualification finance experience; experience in finance capacity building and training; substantial experience working with accounting software and online systems; proven experience in budgeting and budget management and in donor financial reporting; exposure to organisational finance compliance; and experience supporting programme teams in project design and management. Candidates should be able to communicate complex financial data to non-finance professionals, work under their own initiative, and work cross-culturally across multiple locations. Applicants must be a fully qualified accountant holding a recognised professional accounting or auditing qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent), a committed Christian aligned with Tearfund's Mission, Values, and Beliefs, and willing and able to travel approximately 35% of the time. Excellent written and verbal English communication skills are required, with ability to communicate in French an advantage. This position will be based in DRC, South Sudan, CAR, Burundi, Rwanda, or Ethiopia. Candidates must possess the existing legal right to live and work in one of these countries.
