Danish Refugee Council, one of the world's leading humanitarian NGOs, is looking for a highly qualified Protection Officer - Monitoring for its operations in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Under the technical supervision of the Protection Manager, the Protection Officer (Monitoring) will implement protection monitoring activities in target locations, planning and conducting protection monitoring visits through data collection, referral of individuals at risk, information sharing, and reporting on protection trends. Duties include developing a work plan for protection monitoring, ensuring activities align with international standards and DRC guidelines, conducting data collection using tools like Kobo and Activity Info, identifying individuals with specific needs and referring them to services, developing and maintaining protection referral mechanisms, conducting community awareness raising, supporting case management and continuity of protection programming, and contributing to monthly and quarterly reports and project proposals. Requirements: minimum 3 years' experience in humanitarian/development response, research, or refugee/IDP protection with an international NGO, UN agency, or relevant authority; strong communication skills in English and local languages; experience conducting protection monitoring or assessments using online data collection tools; strong data collection, analysis and reporting skills; experience working with displaced or conflict-affected populations; strong planning and organizational skills; university degree in social sciences, law, social work, international development, or a related field; excellent English and Amharic. Contract length 12 months, national contract, start date 15 October 2026.
