WWF Nepal seeks a Sustainable Infrastructure Specialist to assess potential impacts of large-scale infrastructure on conservation and develop strategic, collaborative approaches to address these issues. Under the supervision of the Conservation Program Director, the Specialist will build capacity of government agencies, civil society organizations, development partners, and academic institutions while coordinating with stakeholders to promote sustainable green infrastructure (wildlife-friendly and climate-smart) that reduces adverse impacts on ecosystems and biodiversity. Key duties include: identifying and mapping planned infrastructure developments; reviewing environmental and social impacts including unsustainable extraction of construction materials; assessing developers' EIA/IEE inputs; identifying cumulative impacts and preparing case studies and analytical reports; coordinating stakeholder engagement in environmental flows processes; and recommending mitigation measures for hydropower, transmission lines, roads, railways, highways, and irrigation projects. The role also supports green recovery and mainstreaming climate change/DRR in infrastructure work, advises senior leadership on infrastructure developments and policy, coordinates with donors, developers, academics, and government to strengthen enabling environments, supports safeguard measures in projects, contributes to monitoring/evaluation and knowledge sharing, and handles communication and technical reporting on infrastructure impacts.

Requirements: Master's degree in civil engineering or environmental engineering; at least 5 years of experience in infrastructure development with strong experience in environmental impact assessment/initial environmental examination; experience in environmental management related to roads, railways, transmission lines, and hydropower development preferred; knowledge of green-resilient infrastructure, natural resources safeguards, DRR, and climate change adaptation desirable. Strong analytical, facilitation, and communication skills (written and spoken English) required, along with ability to work with diverse stakeholders including government, academia, developers, donors, NGOs, research groups, and local communities.
