The Director's goal is to identify, develop, and manage strategic partnerships in both Australia and internationally that mobilise funding and investment to advance CI's regional priorities in coastal restoration, marine conservation, sustainable landscapes, and Indigenous-led conservation initiatives. This position will lead the development process from outreach/cultivation to proposal development to agreements/contracting and stewardship, and collaborate with program, finance, and grants management teams to ensure effective transition from opportunity identification to active implementation. Responsibilities include donor cultivation and pipeline management: identifying and developing strategic/funding opportunities across the Pacific, building a cultivation pipeline of new donors, working with CI Australia Board and Pacific Country Directors on donor engagement strategies, monitoring trends in corporate sustainability and conservation finance, and maintaining donor engagement records. The role also covers proposal development and grant acquisition, providing technical support to program staff, drafting and reviewing proposal content, and coordinating due diligence. Donor stewardship and partnership management duties include positioning CI with priority corporate partners, financial institutions, foundations, and investors, and representing CI at donor meetings and events. Required: Bachelor's degree in international development, communication, environmental conservation, or similar field; 7+ years of professional experience leading strategic partnerships, resource mobilisation, corporate engagement, or business development in conservation, environmental, or development sectors; proven track record securing seven-figure funding; strong networking and stakeholder management experience; understanding of environmental and development issues relevant to Australia and the Pacific; experience with CRMs; fluency in English.
