The International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) is a globally recognized think tank with more than 30 years of experience working to solve today's greatest sustainable development challenges, with over 300 experts working from offices in Canada and Switzerland as well as other locations around the world.

The Policy Analyst, Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI), will collaborate with IISD's team of experts to deliver IISD's work program in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Viet Nam, supporting each country's GESI-responsive just transition toward clean energy sources. Working closely with the Senior Policy Advisor, GESI, the candidate will operate within IISD's Energy Program, with minimal supervision, to contribute to the delivery of the Emissions Ambition for Sustainable Economies (EASE) and Energy is Key to a Climate Stable Future (EnerKey) projects, in addition to other projects that may be assigned.

Key responsibilities: conduct and support qualitative and quantitative research on the social, economic, and distributional dimensions of just energy transition, carbon pricing, transport electrification, and related energy policy issues, ensuring GESI considerations are meaningfully integrated; collect, analyze, and synthesize data and evidence through literature reviews, policy scans, interviews, focus groups, and data analysis; develop reports, policy briefs, technical notes, and presentations; support the design, development, organization, facilitation, and documentation of GESI-oriented capacity development and stakeholder engagement activities, including training modules and learning materials; support stakeholder consultations with government, civil society, private sector, and community groups; work with IISD's communications team on accessible knowledge products; contribute to engagement and fundraising efforts, including proposals, concept notes, and donor reporting.

Qualifications: A master's degree in gender studies, social sciences, public policy, environment, development studies, or a relevant interdisciplinary field (applicants without a master's degree are welcome to apply if they can demonstrate equivalent experience). Candidate must have authorization to work in Indonesia. At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in Indonesia, the Philippines, and/or Viet Nam connected to GESI mainstreaming, energy, climate, sustainable development, policy research, or capacity development. Demonstrated experience delivering research, analysis, capacity development, training, or learning activities; experience developing training materials highly desirable. Strong analytical and writing skills; working knowledge of policy research methods; applied knowledge of GESI and gender-based analysis highly desirable; basic-to-intermediate facilitation and presentation skills; fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and English required (Vietnamese and Filipino an advantage); computer literacy including Microsoft Office/Teams.

Position details: Remote-based anywhere in Indonesia, with a preference for Jakarta; moderate travel expected. Salary commensurate with experience and location (candidates invited to state expected gross salary in Indonesian rupiah per year). 100% full-time equivalent staff position, including under an Employer of Record model, with a 6-month probation period; 2-year contractual position with possibility of extension subject to funding. Start date: immediate.
