African Leadership Academy (ALA) seeks to transform Africa by identifying, developing, and connecting a new generation of young leaders who will lead the continent towards lasting peace and shared prosperity for all. Since its inception in 2008, ALA has worked to lay the foundations of this mission by identifying and developing a group of exceptional young leaders who will work together to shape Africa's future.

Position overview: The Anzisha Program seeks to fundamentally and significantly increase the number of job-generating entrepreneurs in Africa. It tests, implements and shares models for identifying, training and connecting high potential, very young entrepreneurs (15 to 22 year olds) - and their parents and teachers - so that many more organisations have better collective success in creating a pipeline of entrepreneurs with the capabilities for scale. Every year the programme selects top African entrepreneurs from across the continent and invites them to join the Anzisha Venture Building fellowship / Scholars Entrepreneurship Fund, where they receive funding and business support to accelerate their ventures.

Key responsibilities:
- Reading and rating a minimum of 400 applications.
- Phoning and evaluating a minimum of 100 semi-finalist candidates.
- Using ALA processes, tools and systems to capture, share and present information on applicants and finalists during the selection process.

Minimum requirements and selection criteria: Bachelor's degree required and/or 3-5 years related experience in specific sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, retail, marketing, sales, finance, operations, tech, project and process management. Preferred: pursuing an MBA / Project Management.

Competencies: competence in other languages spoken widely in Africa (e.g. French, Portuguese or Arabic); highly analytical with the ability to understand business models and gather insights and trends; strong communication, interpersonal and cross-group collaboration skills, including the ability to build and deliver effective presentations; aptitude to engage a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, from end users and senior management to very young entrepreneurs. Good organisational and time management skills, excellent written and verbal communication, good computer skills, project management skills, ability to prioritise and work independently, logical decision-making, attention to detail and initiative. High levels of integrity, confidentiality and emotional maturity; resilience, diplomacy, empathy and the capacity to remain calm under deadline pressure.

Reports to: Anzisha Growth and Campaigns Manager. Job location: ALA Campus, Johannesburg. Contract position, entry level, potential start date mid-November 2026.

Closing date: 2026-09-04
