Position Overview: The Senior Director of Learning & Impact partners with the Executive Team to lead the ongoing work of building the systems, culture, and practices to foster learning across the organization and demonstrate impact. As steward of the Organizational Learning framework, this role provides teams with technical support and advises on refinements to learning systems, tools, and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Functional Leadership & Strategy (30%): Champion values-aligned approach to learning; oversee implementation and refinement of organizational learning framework; collaborate with Executive Team; oversee development of online Learning Platform; define annual priorities and budget.
- Data and Knowledge Production and Dissemination (40%): Develop and refine organizational methodology, standards, processes and tools for data collection and analysis; maintain annual rhythms to aggregate insights; lead quality control and analysis; steward responsible data practices; guide compelling storytelling of learnings.
- Cultivate a culture and practice of learning (15%): Design and facilitate organization-wide reflections; provide technical assistance to teams; model continuous learning culture.
- Staff Management (5%): Attract, develop, coach, and retain high-performance team members.
- Organizational Collaboration (10%): Participate in staff meetings, retreats, trainings, and organizational activities.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years senior-level experience leading learning, evaluation, applied research, or related field in social justice philanthropy or movement-aligned organizations
- Knowledge in Thousand Currents' thematic areas (food sovereignty, agroecology, energy democracy, climate justice, economic justice)
- Experience partnering with social justice and movement formations, especially in the global majority
- Track record developing and implementing processes that advance organizational learning
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Experience with CRM and/or knowledge management systems
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong facilitation skills for collective sensemaking
- Ability to work effectively in a fully remote, geographically dispersed and culturally diverse team
