Transport & Environment (T&E), Europe's leading clean transport think tank and campaign group, is looking to strengthen its Sustainable Investments and Batteries team, with a particular focus on public investments. As T&E's public investment policy intern, you will support work in influencing EU-level investment policies and funding instruments towards transport decarbonization and the development of the EU's cleantech ecosystem. This entails the EU long-term budget (MFF), EU-level financing instruments (InvestEU, European Competitiveness Fund, etc.) and related policies such as state aid, with special attention to transport decarbonization. Tasks: organization of creative, attention-raising events and preparation of complementary communication material to support advocacy; research and analysis both at the request of the team and for longer-term projects; monitoring positions of key stakeholders including member states and Members of the European Parliament, as well as wider market and regulatory developments in the public finance space; co-development and drafting of concise and informative policy recommendations; attending meetings with stakeholders and reporting back. Requirements: understanding of the role of EU institutions and EU policymaking processes (no 'EU Bubble' work experience required); strong English (B2/C1); strong motivation to learn about EU funding landscape & instruments, cleantech financing needs & industrial policy; willingness to engage in advocacy, research, communication and organization; proactivity and collaboration; existing right to work in Belgium. The position is full-time, one-year contract from early/mid-September 2026, paid under the Belgian 'Convention d'Immersion Professionnelle' at €1,800 gross a month.
