Position Summary: This position provides case management to refugee and immigrant families, including ongoing cultural adjustment support, orientations, referrals, and mediation services. The Immigrant Case Worker works closely with community organizations, churches, landlords, and service providers to promote successful community integration. The role is based in Chicago and may require visits to clients primarily in northern Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.
Role & Responsibilities: Ensure timely and appropriate services to newly arriving refugee families during their first 90 days post-arrival, including health screenings, public aid enrollment, documentation, clothing/household items, and English classes; conduct home visits and assessments; provide orientations to life in the U.S. and assist with budgeting; coordinate resettlement details (furniture, groceries, utilities, airport reception, transportation); conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individual service plans; provide mediation between clients and outside entities; maintain accurate client files and case notes; supervise interns and collaborate with volunteers.
Requirements: Mature and personal Christian faith; commitment to World Relief's mission, vision, and values; valid driver's license and reliable vehicle; MS Office skills; ability to work a flexible schedule. Preferred: direct-service experience with immigrant populations, cross-cultural experience, and fluency in languages such as Spanish, Rohingya, Burmese, Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Swahili, or French. Compensation: $22.94 - $24.67 an hour.
