The Country Director DRC has overall responsibility for providing strategic and operational leadership, overseeing all aspects of the development and management of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) country program portfolio and day-to-day activities including financial management, team security, and donor relations to ensure high-impact and sustainable humanitarian and development response. Responsibilities include developing and implementing a revised country strategy aligned with World Relief's mission and the Core Humanitarian Standards; recruitment of personnel; developing policies, structures and systems; monitoring programs and ensuring quality M&E processes; staff capacity building; resource development; and building strong strategic partnerships with local institutions, government, UN agencies, Cluster systems, and other implementing partners. The Country Director leads the senior management team, drives business development, and represents the organization in DRC. Frequent travel to project field sites within and outside Goma is required.
Requirements: mature personal Christian faith; commitment to World Relief's mission, vision and values; experience administering U.S. government and UN grants; proven leadership and management of international donor support programs, strategic planning, resource mobilization, proposal development, personnel management and budgeting; ability to manage multi-cultural teams; strong oral and written communication in French and English. Preferred: knowledge of Swahili and Lingala; university degree (business management valued, Master's preferred); minimum 5 years of international relief and development experience with progressive leadership, or 7 years of business management and leadership experience. Compensation: $70,000 - $80,000, commensurate with experience.
