Rights and Resources Initiative (RRI) is a global coalition of more than 200 organizations dedicated to advancing the forest, land, and resource rights of Indigenous Peoples, local communities, Afro-descendant Peoples, and particularly women within these groups. RRI is coordinated by a Secretariat based in Washington, DC. RRI and Campaign for Nature (CfN) launched the Community Land and Conservation Finance Initiative (CLARIFI) in January 2022, an international funding mechanism to scale up support for secure community land rights.
The Associate provides programmatic and administrative support for CLARIFI. Working closely with the CLARIFI Director, regional facilitators, and cross-functional teams, the Associate coordinates grant administration, regional collaboration, and program operations that support community land rights across Latin America. This is a full-time position based in Montreal, Quebec, with the option to telework two days per week. Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada and located in the Montreal area prior to the start date.
Key Responsibilities include coordinating project proposal, budget, and grant review processes with regional facilitators and grantees; managing grant administration (contracts, amendments, work plans, reporting, payment coordination); collaborating with compliance, finance, and monitoring teams; monitoring project progress and deadlines; drafting correspondence and documentation in English and either Spanish or Portuguese; supporting donor reporting, MEL, and knowledge-sharing; coordinating meetings, travel, and regional learning events; and providing organization-wide planning support.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in International Development, International Relations, Public Policy, or a related field; 1-2 years of experience in grants management, nonprofit operations, program administration, or international development; fluency in English and professional working proficiency in either Spanish or Portuguese; professional working proficiency in French; excellent organizational and project coordination skills; ability to travel internationally throughout Latin America. Salary Range: CAD $56,000-$70,000.
