Junior Statistician
Bodhi Global Analysis is a woman-led international development research consultancy established in London in 2017, with subsidiaries in Nairobi, Singapore, Dar es Salaam, and The Hague. They specialise in formative and evaluative research serving UN agencies, bilateral donors, INGOs, and foundations across fragile and conflict-affected contexts.
The Junior Statistician will strengthen the quantitative capacity of Bodhi's research and evaluation teams. The position is open to candidates based in the United Kingdom or Singapore on a one-year fixed-term contract (renewable). The role is primarily remote with 15–20% international fieldwork.
Key responsibilities include:
- Survey design: programme and test quantitative survey instruments in KoboToolbox (XLSForm, skip logic, constraint validation, multi-language); support sampling frameworks including sample size calculations, PPS selection, KISH grids, and post-stratification weights.
- Data cleaning and management: build Python (pandas, NumPy) data processing pipelines; produce cleaning logs, codebooks, and analysis-ready datasets; conduct systematic quality checks during field collection.
- Statistical analysis: conduct descriptive statistics, cross-tabulations, hypothesis testing, and regression modelling; select and justify appropriate statistical methods; interpret results for non-technical audiences.
- Data visualisations and summary tables for reports and presentations.
- Fieldwork support: travel to project locations (Nigeria, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, DRC) to support enumerator training and data quality monitoring.
- Draft quantitative sections of evaluation reports including methodology and statistical annexes.
Essential qualifications:
- Master's degree in statistics, biostatistics, econometrics, economics, data science, or quantitative social science.
- Minimum one year of professional experience in quantitative data analysis.
- Sound statistical literacy: probability, inference, hypothesis testing, regression, sampling theory.
- Proficiency in Python (pandas, NumPy, and visualisation libraries); working proficiency in SPSS, Stata, or R.
- Hands-on experience with KoboToolbox survey design.
- Right to work in the UK or Singapore (visa sponsorship not available).
Salary: GBP 30,000–36,000 gross per annum (UK) or SGD 4,800–5,800 gross per month (Singapore).
