CONTEXT
Communication is integral to MSF's humanitarian and medical operations for the purposes of leverage, security, access, or visibility. MSF also bears witness to crises through testimonies and speaking out when necessary.
Within the Communication and Fundraising Department of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in Brussels, you will support the implementation of activities related to events, youth engagement, and public communication. You will be part of a dynamic and creative team working closely with colleagues from different departments, volunteers, and external partners.
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in project management, event coordination, and communication within an international humanitarian organization.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
You will support the Events officer as well as the Youth Engagement Officer in a variety of tasks:
Event coordination
* Assist with planning and logistics (materials, orders, catering, transport, etc.)
* Support volunteer recruitment, scheduling, and briefing
* Help coordinate events of various sizes (public awareness events, sports events, festivals, exhibitions)
* Provide on-site support during events and ensure smooth logistics
* Manage relationships with participants, partners, and suppliers
* Assist in post-event follow-up (thank-you messages, content sharing, feedback collection)
Youth Engagement
* Support the creation of engaging content for social media (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Twitch, etc.)
* Help organize online events or livestreams (e.g., Twitch) from planning topics to technical support
* Assist in developing materials for presentations and outreach activities with universities
* Contribute to creative ideas for youth-oriented campaigns and festival activations
* Conduct basic benchmarking and support digital content management
REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience
* Currently studying communication, marketing, public relations, project/event management, or a related field
Competencies
* Excellent writing and organizational skills
* Creativity and attention to detail
* Team spirit and strong interpersonal skills
* Good understanding of social media and digital trends
* Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multicultural environment
* Proactive and solution-oriented mindset
Languages
* Fluency in Dutch and English, knowledge of French is an asset

CONDITIONS
* Expected starting date: September 2026
* Location: Brussels, Belgium
* Due to legal administrative constraints, candidates must already be resident in Belgium or have a residence right as a student in Belgium or in the European Union allowing to move and study in the EU and with the willingness to relocate in Belgium at their own costs
* Contract Type: Unpaid student internship - Mandatory convention to be provided by the school
* Internship duration: 3-4 months
* Time allocation: at least 4 days a week
* Reimbursement (100%) of public transport costs, and 7 EUR/day worked in the office to cover lunch costs
