Consultancy Opportunity: Coordinator, Global Platform for Action to End FGM/C
Location: Remote (Global)
Equality Now seeks a consultant to coordinate the Global Platform for Action to End FGM/C, a consortium of civil society organisations, champions, survivors and grassroots representatives working to accelerate the abandonment and prevention of female genital mutilation/cutting. This is a remote, independent consultancy open to applicants globally (applications from Asia and Africa particularly encouraged), for 13 months (anticipated 15 November 2026 to 15 December 2027) at about three days per week. The fee is USD 26,000, paid in thirteen monthly instalments of USD 2,000.
The consultant will provide coordination, governance, membership and communications support, in this order of priority: (1) strengthening governance and membership arrangements; (2) establishing consistent coordination and communications; (3) supporting resource mobilisation and longer-term sustainability.
Key deliverables:
- Inception workplan within the first month.
- Governance and membership: facilitate consultation on and finalise membership terms of reference (including a proposed two-tier model), develop guidance on decision-making, build a membership database, and run outreach and onboarding that prioritises grassroots and survivor-led organisations in the Global Majority.
- Coordination: run monthly Core Group meetings, circulate agendas and records, and maintain a decision and action tracker.
- Communications: implement a schedule across the listserv, public mailing list and social media, coordinate website updates, and support common messaging.
- Strategic planning: facilitate a three-year strategic workplan, track commitments under the Movement-led Collective Vision on Ending FGM/C, map funding opportunities, and recommend how to sustain the coordination function.
- Joint advocacy: provide secretariat support to the FGM/C Donor Working Group, coordinate three shared advocacy materials and at least two webinars.
- Quarterly progress reports, donor reporting inputs, and a final report and handover package.
Qualifications: a track record of coordinating coalitions, networks or multi-stakeholder initiatives; understanding of FGM/C and its links to gender equality, human rights and SRHR; inclusive facilitation with grassroots and survivor-led movements; governance and planning skills; strong written and spoken English (other languages an advantage); and the ability to deliver independently. Experience in resource mobilisation, donor reporting, joint advocacy or online events is an advantage. Applicants should show a commitment to feminist principles, safeguarding and respectful engagement with survivors.
