New Roots Institute is a growing nonprofit dedicated to ending factory farming by empowering the next generation of advocates. Its fellowship programs train students to lead advocacy campaigns that create structural and behavioral change in their communities. It is seeking a motivated, mission-driven Program Coordinator to help deepen its impact.
As Program Coordinator, you will create well-organized, responsive, and consistent experiences for applicants, program participants, and alumni. You will support the systems and recurring processes that keep programs moving, from admissions and live programming to participant follow-up, data management, and annual program setup.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the behind-the-scenes details that keep Leadership Academy and Academic Year Fellowship sessions running smoothly, including setting up virtual events and links and monitoring live sessions.
- Keep fellows on track by maintaining participation records, following up on missed sessions and assignments, monitoring onboarding requirements, answering routine questions, and completing end-of-program processes.
- Support the admissions experience by processing applications, monitoring the admissions inbox, scheduling interviews and welcome calls, conducting a share of those calls, and maintaining accurate applicant records.
- Maintain accurate data on fellow and alumni engagement, achievements, campaigns, and career outcomes for organizational learning, reporting, and grant applications.
- Set up and improve the systems and materials needed for consistent program delivery, including recurring task structures, the annual rollover of program resources, and formatting decks and documents.
- Coordinate across program teams and shift between priorities as the program calendar changes.
- Take ownership of projects and recurring processes, using sound judgment about when to act independently, ask for guidance, or simplify or automate a process.
Requirements:
- At least one year of work experience, including part-time jobs and internships, involving recurring administrative, coordination, or operations work, with a track record of keeping it on schedule. Alumni of the Academic Year Fellowship may apply whether or not they meet this requirement.
- Motivation to build a long-term career in the movement to end factory farming.
- Exceptional organization and attention to detail; persistent and diplomatic in following up.
- A clear, warm writer with sound judgment about what to escalate.
- Confidence with spreadsheets and quick learning of new platforms (Zoom, Google Workspace, Asana, Airtable, Circle); eagerness to use AI tools thoughtfully.
- Shared vegan and anti-speciesist values.
- Ability to attend two annual in-person gatherings (team retreat in early June and the New Roots Summit, anticipated early August from 2027).
- Flexible availability for live programming (evening Academic Year Fellowship sessions; summer Leadership Academy on weekday mornings, Pacific Time).
This is a full-time, remote position with a salary of $62,000 per year, plus health, dental, and vision insurance and unlimited PTO. New Roots has a no-negotiation salary policy. The hiring process includes a skills task, screening interview, competencies interview, work history interview, and reference checks.
