T&E (Transport & Environment) is the leading European advocacy organisation for clean transport and energy, and is expanding its work across Asia-Pacific, with Indonesia as a priority market. It is seeking an Indonesia Program Lead on a 12-month freelance/consultant contract, with a possibility of conversion to a full-time position, based in Jakarta (remote/hybrid). The Program Lead will report to the Regional Policy and Program Director – Asia-Pacific and develop and deliver T&E's programme in Indonesia, initially focused on zero-emission road freight, transport electrification, charging infrastructure and maritime electrification.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of T&E's policy and advocacy strategy in Indonesia.
- Lead engagement on policies supporting zero-emission transport, including vehicle standards, electrification, charging infrastructure, fiscal measures and energy policy; engage national and sub-national policymakers and regulators.
- Lead and coordinate projects in Indonesia, managing partners, consultants and research institutions, and monitoring programme impact.
- Build relationships and coalitions with government, industry, research institutions, NGOs and civil society.
- Represent T&E at meetings, conferences and in the media, and work with the Asia-Pacific and European teams.
- Support fundraising, donor reporting and project budget management.
- Coordinate consultants and manage Indonesian staff as the programme grows.
Requirements:
- At least 7–10 years of relevant professional experience in public policy, climate, transport, energy, international development or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience developing and delivering policy or advocacy strategies in Indonesia.
- Experience managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and external partners.
- Experience working with government institutions, NGOs, research organizations or industry.
- Experience in an international organization or NGO is an advantage.
