VVOB – education for development is an international non-profit organisation with over 40 years' experience in strengthening the quality of education systems in Africa, Asia and South America in close partnership with ministries of education and their institutions. Its head office is based in Brussels, Belgium.

VVOB is looking for a Strategic Education Advisor – Foundational and Remedial Learning to operate from its office in Lusaka, Zambia. The Strategic Education Advisor (SEA) reports to the Education Manager – Strategic Team and is part of the Strategy Department. The role works closely with the programmes team and the Education Manager on technical quality and learning system strengthening.

The SEA provides technical leadership on foundational learning, remedial education, and early grade literacy and numeracy across VVOB's regional and global partnerships, to support growth of the Zambian VVOB portfolio.

Result areas:
- Design and develop relevant and scalable projects in close collaboration with internal and external partners.
- Provide short- and long-term strategic advice, information and guidance to VVOB and its partners on remedial learning and foundational literacy and numeracy, in line with policy trends, new developments and the latest research in foundational learning and international development.
- Provide authoritative guidance on instructional models, learning progressions, and alignment between remedial and core instructional approaches.
- Take up a variety of roles in the capacity development process according to the needs, situations and phases of the programme.
- Create and manage partnerships and strong networks with relevant partners, institutions and organisations.
- Provide strategic and instructional leadership across VVOB's portfolio, ensuring coherence, quality and sustainability of FLN-related interventions across projects and levels of the system.
