Transport & Environment (T&E) is seeking a Principal Data Analyst (Researcher) based in Indonesia, preferably Jakarta, on a 12-month freelance/consultancy contract with a high possibility of conversion to a full-time position. The role is part of an effort to accelerate Indonesia's transition toward its economy-wide net zero emissions goal by 2060 or sooner, focusing on decarbonization of the transport sector, particularly maritime and heavy-duty vehicles.

Key responsibilities:
- Lead T&E's analytical and research work on maritime (shipping) and trucking in Indonesia.
- Deliver economic, energy and transport modelling and analysis on the impacts of national and regional transport policy.
- Commission research and collaborate with T&E's regional partners, ensuring quality standards are upheld.
- Write technical reports and policy briefings.
- Present research findings internally and externally.
- Develop high-quality, narrative-driven graphs and data visualizations with Flourish and other interactive tools.
- Review T&E analytical outputs, quality-assure models and challenge input data and assumptions.
- Provide input to policy and communication strategies and network with transport analyst communities.

Requirements:
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience in transport economics/analysis, climate/energy analysis or transport policy.
- Experience in detailed quantitative analysis such as economic or transport modelling, data science or regression analysis; programming (e.g. Python) and qualitative analysis are a bonus.
- Excellent written and spoken English communication and presentation skills.
- Project management experience with strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Confidence to engage and influence policymakers, industry representatives and stakeholders.
- Unrestricted legal right to work in Indonesia.
