The Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) exists to prevent children and young people from becoming involved in violence. It does this by finding out what works and building a movement to put that knowledge into practice.
The Learning and Insights Lead reports to the Assistant Director of Change and is based in Central London or remote. This is a 2-year fixed-term, full-time contract with a salary of £56,600.
YEF's Change team helps leaders who work to keep children safe from violence, including those from youth justice services, police forces, schools and children's services, to put evidence into everyday practice. The team currently supports more than 200 settings across England and Wales through activities ranging from workshops to longer-term support and coaching. Working with so many services allows the team to learn a lot, fast. An independent Learning Partner provides in-depth analysis of what is working, and YEF also wants to capture what its teams see day to day so it can adapt quickly and keep improving its support.
You will lead how YEF learns across its Change programmes, including:
- Getting the best from the Learning Partner, so that their work is rigorous, useful and focused on what YEF needs to know.
- Helping teams learn as they go, by building simple ways to capture what they are seeing and act on it quickly.
- Scoping, commissioning and contract managing other evaluations of Change activities.
This is not an impact evaluation role. It is about learning during delivery so that delivery can be improved while it is happening, and about helping shape future delivery.
Interviews are scheduled for the week commencing 16th November 2026.
Closing date: 9am, Friday 30th October 2026
HOW TO APPLY:
Send a CV and a cover letter (maximum 1000 words) answering the specific questions below, and complete the monitoring form via the "Apply here" button by 9am, Friday 30th October 2026. The cover letter should address: (1) your experience managing or commissioning an external research, evaluation or learning partner, including how you briefed them, held them to quality standards, and obtained rigorous, useful insight; (2) an example of helping a team learn and adapt in real time, turning data, evidence or reflection into a change in programme design or delivery.
