IMPACT Initiatives is a humanitarian NGO based in Geneva, Switzerland, which manages several initiatives including the REACH Initiative. It is looking for a Senior Research Officer to support its team in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt). The post is based in Amman, Jordan, for a 5-month contract starting 15 November 2026. Role: Under the line management of the Research Manager, the Senior Research Officer is jointly responsible for implementing REACH's Cash, Markets & Livelihoods assessments across Gaza and the West Bank, covering preparation, data collection, analysis, drafting, dissemination and evaluation. The role includes collaboration with ACTED and other partners.
Responsibilities:
- Project/research cycle management: ensure assessments, analysis and support materials are planned and implemented in line with project objectives and global IMPACT guidelines; oversee research design, data collection and analysis.
- Contextual understanding: guide secondary data review and keep up to date with contexts in Gaza and the West Bank and how cash-based programming is changing.
- Research and technical skills: develop and implement market-based assessments (cash feasibility, labour market and livelihood assessments); conduct secondary data review (import/export data, liquidity reports, labour market analysis); conduct key informant interviews; develop guidance notes, KII guides and training materials; analyse data and draft factsheets, situation overviews and reports.
- Staff management and training: support training of trainers and data collection staff; promote capacity building; possibly manage research officers.
- Coordination: engage with HQ departments, research units, clusters, UN agencies and INGO/NNGO partners; lead external engagement on findings.
Requirements:
- 3 years of relevant humanitarian experience (assessments, M&E, research design and analysis).
- Excellent quantitative and qualitative analysis skills, including KIIs and tool design (KoBo).
- Prior experience with cash and market research is required.
- Good understanding of the aid system; experience with humanitarian coordination forums preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; R, SPSS or STATA an asset.
- Ability to operate in a complex security environment; regional experience desirable.
- Fluency in English.
