Save the Children is seeking an Education Facilitator (Casual Worker) for its Gaza Field Office in Deir al Balah (location subject to change depending on SC priorities). The contract runs until 31 December 2026, with 1 opening. The role is contingent upon securing available funds, and the vacancy may be used to fill more than one post.
Role purpose: Facilitate and deliver educational and learning activities, including basic education and social-emotional learning (SEL), to children aged 6-12 so they can access the education programmes provided by Save the Children. The facilitator ensures smooth implementation of educational and related activities in shelters and locations covered by the Gaza office, and complies with Save the Children's policies and procedures. Reports to the Education Facilitator Supervisors; no direct reports.
Key responsibilities:
- Assess shelters (available space, number, gender, age and disability profile of children, equipment needs) and select beneficiary children with shelter management.
- Implement pre- and post-assessments for children and caregivers, including reading, writing and numeracy levels.
- Prepare regular lesson plans, adapt curricula and teaching strategies using active learning techniques, and develop individualized plans for children with diverse needs.
- Design extracurricular activities for temporary learning spaces and deliver educational and recreational sessions with quality and child participation.
- Document activities after obtaining parental consent, monitor attendance and schedules, and coordinate safe storage and use of materials.
- Adhere to Child Safeguarding, PSEA, Child Protection and Code of Conduct policies, complete mandatory trainings, and report concerns immediately.
- Prepare monthly progress reports and weekly updates; share challenges and lessons learned.
- Engage caregivers on their children's progress and take part in capacity-building training and project team meetings.
Requirements:
- University degree in education (basic education).
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a basic education teacher.
- Prior experience in emergency response and camp settings, including educational activities in humanitarian contexts.
- Teachers from the targeted locations (Middle Governorate and Khan Younis residents) are encouraged to apply.
