The Global Survivors Fund (GSF) was launched in October 2019 by Dr. Denis Mukwege and Nadia Murad, 2018 Nobel Peace Prize laureates. Its mission is to enhance access to reparations for survivors of conflict-related sexual violence around the globe. GSF provides interim reparative measures where states or other parties are unable or unwilling to meet their responsibilities, advocates for reparations programmes, and provides technical support to states and civil society.
The Sudan Hub Regional Coordinator is a regional leadership position combining strategy, programme management, advocacy and representation, partnership development and team leadership. Full-time, two-year employment contract with possible extension, reporting to the Head of Interim Reparative Measures Projects Unit. Based in Sudan, South Sudan, Kenya or Uganda, with regular trips to Sudan. Start as soon as possible.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop, lead and implement the Sudan Hub strategy; build and maintain partnerships with NGOs, civil society initiatives and international organisations; identify new opportunities for projects and collaboration.
- Lead selection of project implementing partners; oversee project design, budgets and implementation across the region; monitor progress, evaluate results and capture lessons learned.
- Represent the organisation with governments, donors, UN agencies and partners; strengthen advocacy networks to improve access to reparations.
- Support the development and rollout of a Victims' Registry and of projects focused on Education as Reparation.
- Manage and support assigned staff, ensuring team wellbeing and performance.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- At least 15 years of relevant experience, including work on Sudan.
- Fluent in English and Arabic (French is an asset).
- Strong understanding of the Sudan context.
- Solid practical experience working with survivors and victims of conflict-related sexual violence and civil society organisations.
- Very strong writing and public speaking skills.
- Ability to travel regularly in the Sudan Hub countries.
