The Simons Foundation's Informatics group, part of the Division of Autism and Neuroscience (A&N), is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead the planning and delivery of selected high-priority, complex, or cross-functional projects. Reporting to the Vice President of Informatics, the Technical Project Manager will drive projects from planning through delivery while establishing consistent practices that improve execution and visibility across the broader Informatics portfolio. This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of science and technology, helping deliver the software, data systems, and scientific resources that enable large-scale autism and neuroscience research.
This is a full-time position based on-site at the Simons Foundation's New York City offices.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the planning and delivery of selected high-priority, complex, or cross-functional Informatics projects from initiation through completion
- Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, milestones, responsibilities, resource needs, and risk management strategies
- Coordinate work across software engineering, product, bioinformatics, scientific and study teams, as well as external partners and stakeholders
- Translate project objectives and requirements into actionable execution plans, identifying gaps, dependencies, and decisions needed
- Maintain project documentation and track milestones, deliverables, and risks; provide clear status reporting to leadership and stakeholders
- Facilitate planning and coordination meetings, maintain project management systems (e.g., Jira, Confluence), and drive follow-through on commitments
- Identify emerging risks and issues, develop mitigation strategies, and escalate when appropriate
- Ensure Foundation policies, regulatory requirements, and data governance requirements are incorporated into project planning and delivery
- Establish and continuously improve project planning, tracking, communication, and delivery practices across Informatics
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical, scientific, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
- 5+ years of experience managing complex technical projects involving software engineering, data systems, or comparable technology environments
- Strong technical fluency and knowledge of project management methodologies, including Agile and plan-driven approaches
- Proficiency with tools such as Jira, monday.com, or comparable platforms
- Familiarity with modern software development practices, including version control, issue tracking, testing, and release processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills
- Commitment to the mission of the Simons Foundation to advance basic science and mathematics
Compensation: The full-time annual compensation range is $120,000-$140,000 depending on experience, plus a benefits package.
