War Child provides mental health and psychosocial support to children in conflict zones, using science-based methods delivered as sport, play and creative activities. War Child Netherlands is looking for a Head of Corporate & Major Donors to lead the Corporates & Major Donors (C&MD) team, one of three fundraising teams within War Child Netherlands. This is a Management Team (MT) role, fulltime on a fixed-term contract, based in the Amsterdam office with a hybrid working model.
Key responsibilities:
- Strategy and leadership: translate the War Child Netherlands and Alliance strategy into strategic priorities for the team, and take part in MT-level decision-making.
- Commercial development and partnerships: build and deliver sustainable partnerships with companies, foundations and major donors to grow income and impact; build a relevant network and create new opportunities; maintain a healthy commercial pipeline; represent War Child externally.
- Target and results management: set ambitious but realistic targets, monitor performance, and report progress and risks to the directorate.
- Team and organisational development: lead, develop and connect the C&MD team, including recruitment, performance management and career development, while safeguarding wellbeing and an inclusive culture.
- Risk, governance and compliance: ensure compliance with donor conditions, legislation, ethics and safeguarding standards; identify and mitigate financial, operational and reputational risks.
- Resources and operations: oversee annual budgeting, prioritise on return on investment, and use management information and KPIs for steering.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in marketing, business, management, economics, international development/relations or a similar field.
- Fluent Dutch and English; additional languages are an asset.
- At least 5 years of management experience, with extensive experience in fundraising, sales or marketing.
- Demonstrable experience with corporate partners and/or philanthropic organisations, and with fundraising strategies, targets and budgets.
- Experience in people management, CRM and automation, KPI reporting, governance and compliance.
- Enterprising, results-driven and decisive, with excellent communication and presentation skills.
Offer: salary of EUR 5,285 to 6,571 gross per month for 40 hours per week, 8% holiday allowance, a 32-40 hour contract, 29 holiday days, fully employer-paid pension, hybrid-work and travel allowances, and a mobile phone allowance.
