The Operations Risk & Controls Analyst joins the Risk Team, which leads the development and delivery of Wellcome's corporate risk management framework and business continuity arrangements. The role partners with leaders across all functions to embed a proactive risk culture within first-line management.
Responsibilities:
- Partner across departments to embed a proactive risk management culture and ensure effective controls are designed and implemented.
- Act as a key user for the Protecht GRC system, supporting system administration, user guidance, data quality, and continuous enhancement of risk and control management processes.
- Support first-line teams in documenting, monitoring and reporting controls in line with Wellcome's risk framework, while building their capability around risk and compliance.
- Deliver risk processes including contributions to Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) and provide clear, data-driven reports for leadership and governance committees.
- Conduct second-line control testing to give assurance on the effectiveness of controls and strengthen organisational resilience.
- Collaborate with senior colleagues to advance enterprise risk management, ensuring statutory governance requirements are met and major risks are identified and mitigated.
- Champion Wellcome's values by fostering an inclusive culture and adapting to evolving priorities.
Minimum criteria:
- A relevant professional qualification, recently or newly achieved.
- Experience in audit, risk, controls, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience of controls testing, with the ability to identify and assess control effectiveness.
- A background in either internal or external audit.
- Strong learning agility, with the ability to quickly understand new concepts and adapt to changing priorities.
- A genuine interest in building a career within risk management, governance, and controls.
Salary: £44,560 - £55,700. Contract: Permanent, full time. Hybrid working: 3 days a week in the Euston Road office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). Interviews: 1st stage w/c 2 November 2026; 2nd stage w/c 9 November 2026 (in-person). The role is subject to a Basic DBS check.
