The Powering Past Coal Alliance (PPCA) is a coalition of over 180 members working to advance the transition from unabated coal power to clean energy. Its Secretariat is hosted by E3G, an independent climate change think tank. E3G is seeking a Communications Manager based in Singapore to lead PPCA's communications work to enhance public debate on the benefits and feasibility of the coal-to-clean transition in Southeast Asia, and to contribute to PPCA's wider communications activities. The role reports to the Communications Lead.
Key responsibilities:
- Communication Strategy: Work with the PPCA comms team, the wider PPCA team and relevant governments to develop and deliver communication strategies, closely following political and media debates in Southeast Asia.
- Messaging: Develop and refine narratives that address local priorities and opportunities. Identify regional proof-points and case studies. Produce press releases, briefings, social media content, op-eds and blogs, ensuring consistency across channels.
- Media Relations: Bring a strong understanding of the Southeast Asian media landscape. Cultivate strategic media partnerships, pitch stories, and prepare media assets and speaking points.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Events: Establish and leverage partnerships, elevate local influential voices, use social media to build visibility, and coordinate online or in-person events.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Track and analyse the impact of communications efforts, including media coverage and stakeholder feedback, and report to senior staff and funders.
- Contribute to the broader comms activities of the PPCA team as required.
About you:
- Strong track record of building media relations in Southeast Asia and securing coverage.
- Significant professional experience leading external communications and developing communication strategies.
- Proven experience in stakeholder management with governments, think tanks and financial institutions, and in delivering events.
- Ability to turn complex, technical topics into compelling narratives about the energy transition.
- Understanding of digital comms tools, including social media, website CMS and email marketing.
- Fluent written and spoken English; additional languages are an asset.
- Able to work independently across time zones and meet deadlines.
What is offered: permanent, full-time position; 35-hour workweek with fully remote working model; 25 vacation days plus leave between Christmas and New Year; pension contribution; indicative salary range of SGD 85,000 - 95,000. Candidates must have the right to live and work in Singapore; no relocation assistance is provided.
