Location: Goma, Democratic Republic of the Congo
Reporting to the Finance Manager within the Finance department, the Finance Officer will support reliable, rigorous and compliant accounting and financial management in the DRC office. Key responsibilities include recording accounting entries within 48 hours of approval, following up on payments and cash management, and supporting monthly and year-end closing. Duties cover internal control and audit support (assisting external and internal audits, promoting good practices office-wide); finance, administration and accounting (archiving per policy, reviewing vendor documents before payment processing, verifying transactions in MIP, maintaining daily journals and updating the financial system, managing cash accounts and bank payments, verifying reimbursement requests and expense reports, ensuring expenses match budget lines with required documentation, tracking cash advances); general ledger duties using the IMA chart of accounts; budget and forecasting support with cost data; cash management including bank account liaison, payment lists, and payment requests; cost allocation via the monthly allocation table; and monthly closing tasks such as timely journal entries, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and bank reconciliations. The role also supports asset reconciliation exercises and other finance department tasks as assigned.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business, finance or accounting; at least 5 years of experience in a similar role; proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and internet tools; ability to work under pressure, in a team, and in a multicultural environment; proactive and resilient attitude; English language skills are a strong asset.
